If you are looking for an Android smartwatch then you really are spoilt for choice. Plus there are now six smartwatches that feature Google’s new platform, Android Wear so to help your decision a little easier, we’ve compared prices, specs, designs and screens. Take a look and then tell us which one wins your vote in the comments below.
1.Samsung Gear Live - $199:
Specs: 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400, 512MB RAM and 4GB storage.
Screen: 1.63-inch 320 x 320 AMOLED
The Samsung Gear Live comes in a choice of either a black or magenta-red strap and features a heart rate monitor and a 9-axis accelerometer. Although the AMOLED screen may look great, unfortunately there have been numerous complaints about the snap-on charging mechanism, which reportedly keeps breaking.
2.Asus Zenwatch - $199?
Specs: 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400, 512MB RAM and 4GB storage
Screen: 1.63-inch 320 x 320 AMOLED
With its genuine stitched-leather strap, machined aluminum body and rounded-edged, rectangular face, the Asus Zenwatch just screams premium. It features a 9-axis accelerometer and a heart-rate monitor sensor that is compatible with the Asus ZenUI wellness app. It's worth noting though that it only comes in brown leather and the waterproof rating is a little lower than all the other smartwatches.
3.Sony Smartwatch 3 - $229:
Specs: 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400, 512MB RAM and 4GB storage.
Screen: 1.6-inch 320 x 320 TFT LCD
More sporty than smart, the third iteration of Sony's smartwatch comes with a rubber wrist band that can be bought in a variety of neon colours. This is the only smartwatch to come with a built-in GPS sensor but on the negative side doesn't have a charging cradle. Instead you have to use a micro USB port.
4.LG G Watch - $230:
Specs: 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400, 512MB RAM and 4GB storage.
Screen:1.65-ich 280 x 280 LCD IPS
The LG G Watch is available in gold or black. It comes with a 9-axis accelerometer and because it's considered the original Android Wear device, in choosing this model you will be the proud owner of an important piece of technology's history (if you're sentimental or a collector anyway!). On the downside, there is no heart rate monitor, so perhaps not the best choice if you want to keep track of your fitness.
5.LG G Watch R - $249:
Specs: 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400, 512MB RAM and 4GB of storage.
Screen: 1.3-inch 320 x 320 P-OLED
This smartwatch is quite masculine looking and because it will only be available in black, it's maybe not the best choice if you want something bright and colourful. At the same time it is probably the one that looks the least like a smartwatch out of the six we are comparing, so this could be appealing to some.
6.Motorola Moto 360 - $249 for leather, $299 for chain-link steel
Specs: 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400, 512 MB RAM and 4GB storage.
Screen: 1.5-inch 320 x 290 backlit LCD
The Moto 360 will feature in black or silver metal. Although it may look a little plain it certainly feels premium. Like its other fellow smartwatches, it comes with a heart rate monitor and a 9-axis acclerometer but what really makes it stand out is its capability to charge wirelessly. This is a big bonus because it is currently the only smartwatch in our collection of six that is offering this feature.
