WhatsApp will drop BlackBerry OS and Windows Phone support on December 31

WhatsApp has  detailed  its plans for older mobile operating systems, with less than a week before the end of the year. The Facebook-owned app will end support for BlackBerry OS (including BlackBerry 10) and Windows Phone 8.0 (and older) on December 31, 2017. The end of support doesn’t mean WhatsApp will no longer function on these platforms. That said, you will no longer be able to create new accounts or re-verify existing accounts. Furthermore, WhatsApp warns: “Because we will no longer actively develop for these platforms, some features may stop functioning at any time.” WhatsApp offers the following advice for owners of these older devices: These platforms don’t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future.
